MAKE THIS YOUR NEW CALENDAR FOR THIS REASON:
These are all the things that go with me being me. It was 4 a.m. and I couldn’t sleep. I made the decision to buy out an antique collector and open a store. Twenty-four hours later, I bought seven trailer loads of antiques and found a building to rent. It happened fast and seemed a bit crazy to open a brand new store within six weeks. But I did it. But, there is NO WAY I could have without the help of my family. They remained supportive as they felt my excitement and eagerly helped me pursue this new adventure.
Then I had another idea. I had made connections with several owners of hot rods who were also customers at my store. I thought, “wouldn’t it be great to make a calendar.” One with these new friends I’d made. One that would help promote the store.
So, I embarked a new adventure. I contacted a group of my friends and asked if they wanted to be in a calendar. It would support my store and be themed around hot rods and pinups. My friends agreed to join me. None of them are models or have done anything like this before, but they were amazingly supportive. If it were not for their willingness to help, this adventure would have never happened. We worked hard as we fought through the weather and many other challenges together. I love these women–these classy broads–with my whole heart. I have gained so much from each of them. They are my amazing, beautiful, strong, local treasures.
Other treasures in this process have been my photographers, my hair and makeup artist, my graphic designers, and the local business owners who have graciously let me use their establishments for photo shoots.
It has been one wild year. I have grown through the process and feel very empowered by the work it required. I want to thank everyone who has been involved in it and all of you who support it now.
